Rafting 1 Day
The Urubamba river is divided into the upper Urubamba and lower Urubamba. The dividing feature is the Pongo de Mainique, a whitewater canyon that opens into the Amazon plain.
It has some exciting white water depending on the section of the river you’re on and the time of the year. One of our most popular rafting sections during the season is the “Chuquicahuana- (CHUQUI).” This section of the river is on the upper Urubamba side of the river. There are wonder rapids and the water is uncontaminated.
This white water rafting section can be done all year long. From early December to late March the river is Class IV.
We pick you up at your hotel at (a qué hora?!). After a one and a half hour drive we arrive to the shores of the Upper Urubamba River, located in CUSIPATA RIVER CAMP. Our professional rafting guides will give you a safety briefing and provide you with all the proper equipment you’ll need. We will be floating for approximately two and a half hours, running class II and III rapids. During the rainy season Dec. to early March , the rapids can be class III, IV and IV and more.
Afterwards we return to CUSIPATA RIVER CAMP. A hot sauna and hot showers will be waiting for us along with a delicious lunch. You have the option to zipline across the river over 4 cables. Our return to Cusco should be around 5 in the afternoon. That evening you can look at the pictures of your trip at our office.
