The Cusqueño Carnival has a movable date, although it usually occurs between the months of February and March. In this carnival in this part of the country, the tradition of other Peruvian peoples is followed, where one week is allocated for the "Compadres" and another for the "Comadres". The mode of celebrations this week for one and the other is typical and original in Cusco, during these weeks, in the first the comadres visit the compadres, these are entertained by the women, but at the same time they are victims of many mockeries that these they do the same to you, the following week the same will happen, only in reverse. In these carnival ceremonies of entertainment there is a constant and traditional dish that is served, it is the stew or timpu.

Although the celebration where the Comadres and Compadres are present is the most traditional of Cusco, there are also, within the different provinces of Cusco, some elements added to the carnival celebration, among which you can find yunzas, these yunzas are events in which rounds of single and / or married dance around a previously decorated tree and in which different gifts are placed there by the organizers, the yunza ends when the couples who dance around it manage to bring down the tree with the help of the axes that carry, tradition says that he who knocks down the tree will be responsible for the yunza next year.
